The UK's largest insurance company, it invests in many companies on the BDS divestment shortlist and used to provide employer's liability insurance for UAV Engines.
Aviva is the largest provider of insurance in the United Kingdom and one of the largest insurance companies operating in Ireland and Canada.
Aviva’s investment arm, Aviva Investors, invests more than $880 million in 12 weapons companies on the BDS divestment shortlist, including BAE Systems, Boeing, Caterpillar, General Dynamics, Honeywell International, L3Harris, Leonardo, Northrop Grumman, Rheinmetall, Rolls-Royce, Textron, and Thyssenkrupp. This investment data was compiled in an analysis that focused on insurance companies’ connections to weapons companies involved in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Aviva previously provided employer’s liability insurance to Elbit System’s UK subsidiary UAV Engines Ltd., which produces drone engines.
UAV Engines switched its employer’s liability insurance from Aviva to Chubb in December 2025.This followed a year-long campaign in the United Kingdom led by Palestine Action. However, it is unclear why UAV Engines made this switch, and whether or not Aviva still insures UAV Engines through other types of insurance plans, which are not publicly disclosed.
