An Indian multinational automobile manufacturer that supplies Land Rover vehicles to the Israeli military for use in the occupied Palestinian territory.
Tata Motors Ltd is an Indian manufacturer of cars and commercial vehicles. It makes cars under its own brand, Tata, as well as Jaguar and Land Rover, which it acquired from Ford in 2008, and Daewoo commercial vehicles.
The company has supplied Land Rover Defender vehicles to the Israeli military for use in the occupied Palestinian territory, according to Who Profits. Israeli company MDT Armor then converts the Land Rover frame into the MDT David, an armored vehicle that has become a standard patrol and intelligence-gathering vehicle for Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank and Gaza. The Land Rover vehicles are supplied by Tata Motors' Israeli distributor, Eastern Automobile Marketing.
MDT David vehicles have been used to protect illegal Israeli settlements and military bases in the occupied West Bank, to prevent Palestinian shepherds from working their land, and to oppress Palestinian demonstrators. MDT David vehicles equipped with tear gas launchers have also been used during demonstrations in Nabi Saleh, a Palestinian village in the occupied West Bank, and as part of the Israeli military's assault on Gaza in 2014.
