A German engineering company that has provided the Israeli Navy with warships and submarines
ThyssenKrupp AG is a German industrial engineering and steel production company that makes submarines, warships, naval electronics, towers for battle tanks and artillery guns, machine gun mountings, and other weapons systems and components.
Its subsidiary ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) has provided the Israeli Navy with four Sa'ar 6 warships, which were used operationally for the first time on Oct. 16, 2023 against targets in Gaza. The warships are equipped with an electronic warfare suite made by Elbit Systems and are armed with guns and missile systems by Boeing, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Leonardo, Rafael, and RTX.
TKMS has also provided the Israeli Navy with its fleet of six Dolphin submarines, which are reportedly equipped with nuclear weapons. In 2022, Israel ordered from TKMS three newer Dakar submarines for $3.4 billion.
